Summer is finally here and during the hot summer months there’s nothing like hosting a barbecue on your deck, but nothing can ruin a barbecue more than nosy neighbors. There isn’t anything wrong with wanting a little privacy, but how can you make your deck more private?
We’ve helped many people build the Maryland deck of their dreams. And we’ve helped many people privatize their deck as well. We wanted to take some time today to talk about how you can make your Maryland deck private.
Build Around a Tree
If you’re looking to build a new Maryland deck, perhaps you should consider to build around any trees you have in the yard, rather than clearing them. By building around a tree you’re allowing for a natural canopy to help cover up your deck. A tree doesn’t just make your deck more private, but it also adds some natural beauty, and helps the environment out too.
Add in the Sound of Water
Worried that your neighbors may be listening in on your backyard conversations? Why not add in the sounds of running water. You could add in a fountain or add in a pond, even just a gentle trickle of water can provide enough sound to block out your neighbors. Again like the tree you’re also getting a great aesthetic bonus as well.
Install a Trellis
A trellis is a set of walls usually made from a series of interwoven wood pieces. They are not full walls but instead have holes in them that allow for air flow. Some people even like to allow ivy to grow up and down their trellis. By building a trellis around your new Maryland deck you’re ensuring no one around sees what you don’t want them to see.
