With a wood deck, you may need to worry about snow piling up and rot and mold, but with a composite deck, you don’t need to worry about any of this. Composite decking is also extremely low-maintenance and won’t require any sanding, staining, or painting.

It may not seem like a big problem, but icicles can be a great safety concern and can even cause damage to your deck.

Be Cautious with Your Shovel

When you wake up and see all of that snow outside covering your deck, your first instinct might be to start shoveling, but you need to be careful about how hard you’re shoveling. If you put too much pressure into your shoveling you could put some horrible gouges and scratches into your deck.
